The heat conductivity of expanded Vermiculite depends on the bulk density and the fraction. It should be noted that the size of the fraction, not the weight, has influence on the heat conductivity.
Due to the high porosity, vermiculite is particularly suitable for the insulation of buildings, movie theaters and recording studios. Acoustic properties of swollen vermiculite depend on the thickness of backfill, the size and shape of its grains, the oscillation frequency of sound. With the increase in the thickness of vermiculite in filling sound absorption intensity increases, reaching a maximum thickness of 50mm.
